WHAT IS NETWORK?
A network is a group of two or more computer system linked together.Computers on a network are sometimes called nodes.Computers and devices that allocate resources for a network are called serves.
There are many types of computer networks including :
- Wide-area networks(WANs)- the computersare farther apart and connected by telephone lines or radio waves.
- Local-area networks(LANs)- the computers are geographically close together
- Campus- area networks (CANs)- the computers are within a limited geographic area such as a campus
- Metropolitan-area networks(MANs)- a data network designed for a town or city.
- Home-area networks(HANs)- contained within a user's home that connects a person's digital devices.
Networks also can be categorize in different types of networks:
- Topology- geometric arrangement of a computer system
- Protocol - common set of rules and signals that computers on the network use to communicate
- Architecture- networks can be broadly classified as using either a peer-to-peer or client.
THE USES OF NETWORKS
Networks give many uses and can help people such as file sharing, which is you can share photos music and save copies of important data.Furthermore, printer/peripheral sharing can share single printer,web cams and CD burners on same computers. In addition, you can access internet connection sharing. For multi-player games you also get the opportunities to play game together with friends and family at home. Internet telephone service allow you to make and receives phone calls through your home network across the internet and save your money too.
